Helping Lyndhurst Surgery Thrive Through Local Support
Friends of Lyndhurst Surgery (FOLS) is a charity founded in 1994, dedicated to enhancing patient care by supporting Lyndhurst Surgery. Our mission is to raise funds for vital medical equipment and foster community engagement through various events. Driven by local generosity, we ensure the surgery maintains excellent standards and serves the community with care and convenience.
FOLS does not fund or deliver clinical services, subsidise GP income or replace NHS statutory provision.
The surgery does fund their own equipment we, through charitable donations, typically fund the provision of equipment etc for patient convenience rather than those that are a contractual requirement for usual practice. As well as providing and servicing equipment we have agreed to support the Lyndhurst Postnatal Support group and have agreed to fund the hire of a room for this service.
FOLS holds events throughout the year. All events are arranged to boost funds for the benefit of all patients of Lyndhurst surgery. We would welcome any ideas you may have which would help us to boost our fundraising efforts.
Thanks to the generosity of patients, along with the endeavours of the FOLS committee, to date FOLS has raised in excess of £140,000 through donations, concerts, festivals, collection boxes etc. We have recently launched our Lottery in conjunction with the New Forest Community Lottery.
The support and continued generosity of local people is the key to our success if we are to continue to enjoy Lyndhurst Surgery as one of the best-equipped surgeries in the region. Donations however large or small at any time will in turn help our Surgery and of course benefit us all.
FOLS also bears the on-going expense of annual servicing and maintenance on all equipment supplied plus the continued replacement of items such as BP monitor cuffs etc.
Membership of the FOLS committee is restricted to twelve people with many others wishing to work alongside us, these people known as “Friends of FOLS” are invaluable to us.
Fundraising has proven difficult over recent years due to the pandemic. However our aim is to continually raise funds through various activities with such funds going towards the cost of new equipment and the servicing requirements of items already in use.
As equipment reaches the end of its useful life and is deemed to be unserviceable it becomes a priority to purchase like replacements. This of course being an on-going situation.
The FOLS Committee meets on a regular basis with a member of the Doctors Surgery Senior Team. In these meetings we discuss what equipment needs are required to help them be more efficient and provide a better service to their patients. We then identify the cost of the items and start to raise funds to be able to purchase and maintain the equipment.
